Well, we made it. The final episode of Sausage Party: Foodtopia has arrived, and if you thought the movie’s grocery-store orgy was unhinged, Episode 8 takes the concept of “food afterlife” and deep-fries it in existential dread, cheap beer, and one very uncomfortable hot dog bun. If you’ve watched the first seven episodes, you owe it to yourself to finish. If you’re jumping in cold… please don’t. This is not a standalone episode. It’s the strange, sticky cherry on top of a very bizarre sundae.
The voice cast remains committed. Seth Rogen’s Frank gets surprisingly philosophical, and Kristen Wiig’s Brenda finally gets a moment of genuine badassery. Sam Richardson steals the show as a cynical taco who’s seen too many potlucks. Yes and no. As a conclusion to Foodtopia ’s main arc (building a food society, dealing with human hunters, internal politics), Episode 8 feels rushed. Major characters disappear for ten minutes at a time, and a certain revenge plot is resolved with a shrug.
