Before she is captured, Sunena hands a glowing, mystical box to the maidservant, Malti , and commands her to escape. The princess is caught and frozen in a crystal prison. Malti runs into the human world, where she collapses near a river, hiding the box inside a hollow tree. The curse is set: Princess Sunena will remain trapped until the “Seven Questions” are answered correctly. If any seeker fails, she will burn in the fire of Zargam forever. The story shifts to the opulent, sun-drenched palace of Yemen . We meet our protagonist, Hatim Tai (played by Harsh Rajput). Unlike the brash, sword-wielding heroes of typical fantasy, Hatim is introduced as a man of intellect, compassion, and deep moral conviction. He is the son of the legendary Tai, known across Arabia for his boundless generosity.
The episode establishes Hatim’s core character trait through a small but powerful scene. A poor beggar is turned away from a wealthy merchant’s door. Hatim sees this and not only gives the man gold but also chastises the merchant, saying, “True wealth is not in what you keep, but in what you give.” This immediately sets him apart as a hero driven by justice, not glory. The peaceful life in Yemen is disrupted when Malti, now old and frail, stumbles into the palace courtyard. She collapses at Hatim’s feet and, with her last breath, tells him the story of Princess Sunena and the Fire Demons. She hands him the mystical box. hatim tai drama episode 1
