“We don’t need to leave,” Elara said. “We need to stop running. We need to ask for help.”
Reyes frowned. “You’re talking about biology.” She turned the datapad toward him
“Show me how to talk to it,” he said finally.

But Elara had been working in secret. She called her project GCI+ —not a patch, but a rebirth.
“You’re supposed to be packing, Doctor,” said a gruff voice behind her. “We need to stop running
“I’ve been liberating them,” Elara corrected. “The original GCI was a conqueror’s tool. GCI+ is a gardener’s. It doesn’t fight the planet. It asks the planet to cooperate. And last night, for the first time…” Her voice cracked. “It answered.”
