But what if you don’t want to root your phone? Can you still use DriveDroid? Let’s cut through the noise. DriveDroid works by emulating a USB drive directly at the kernel level. When you plug your phone into a computer via USB, the app presents a disk image (ISO, IMG, etc.) as if it were a physical USB stick. The computer then boots from that "drive." DriveDroid has long been the gold standard for
