welcome aboard

Ships of Hagoth is a digital-first literary magazine featuring creative nonfiction and theoretical essays by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where other LDS-centric publications often look inward at the LDS tradition, we seek literary works that look outward through the curious, charitable lens of faith.

1. Introduction: What is Acronis True Image WinPE? Acronis True Image WinPE is not a standalone application, but rather a customized boot environment based on Microsoft's Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE). It allows users to run Acronis True Image (now Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office) on a computer that cannot boot into its primary operating system (OS).

While the standard Acronis bootable media is based on Linux, the offers a significant advantage: it includes native drivers and a familiar Windows-like interface, ensuring better hardware compatibility (especially with modern RAID controllers, NVMe SSDs, and network adapters). 2. Why Use the WinPE Version Instead of Standard Linux Media? | Feature | Linux-based Media | WinPE-based Media | |--------|------------------|-------------------| | Hardware Support | Good, but limited by Linux kernel drivers | Excellent (uses Windows drivers) | | Network Compatibility | May lack drivers for newer NICs | Supports virtually all Windows NIC drivers | | Storage Controllers | Limited to open-source drivers | Full support for manufacturer RAID/FCoE drivers | | User Interface | Simplified GUI | Full Windows-like interface (including mouse & keyboard) | | USB 3.x / NVMe Support | Varies | Native Windows support | | Recovery Speed | Faster boot time | Slightly slower boot (loads Windows kernel) |

We are hoping—for “one must needs hope”—for creative nonfiction, theoretical essays, and craft essays that seek radical new ways to explore and express theological ideas; that are, like Hagoth, “exceedingly curious.”

We favor creative nonfiction that can trace its lineage back to Michel de Montaigne. Whether narrative, analytical, or devotional, these essays lean ruminative, conversational, meandering, impressionistic, and are reluctant to wax didactic.

As for theoretical essays: we welcome work that playfully and charitably explores the wide world of arts & letters—especially works created from differing religious, non-religious, and even irreligious perspectives—through the peculiar lens of a Latter-day Saint.

We read and publish submissions as quickly as possible, and accept simultaneous submissions.
